parisian nursery (purple and turquoise)

I decided to take a different spin on the Parisian nursery theme. Instead of doing primarily French prints and Eiffel Tower images, I attempted to do a little research into French culture to determine what an authentic French nursery embodies. Okay, actually, Jon did the research. He reported that many French nurseries have white walls and then throw in bright splashes of color. For this post, I did a much more feminine nursery with primarily turquoise, purples, and a little pink. If you wanted to do a boy's nursery that is Parisian, you could substitute the pinks and purples for more "boyish" colors--perhaps some bright greens or yellows.

safari or jungle (green and brown)

For the safari or jungle nursery, I'd recommend doing a lot of greens and browns. However, if you want your nursery to be gender specific, you could easily fine some cute gender-specific accessories. I've seen purple safari bedding for girls and blue safari bedding for boys, for example.

{1} Neutral throw pillow
{2} Green dresser/changing table combo
{3} Crib bedding
{4} Wall art
{5} Light switch and outlet covers
{6} Curtain tie backs
{7} Green lamp
{8} Baby mobile

dr. seuss (navy, red and white)

I got a suggestion to look into Dr. Seuss themed nursery accessories from the lovely ladies over at the babycenter.com community. Personally, I'd recommend anyone who wants to do a Dr. Seuss nursery keep their walls white and add bold furniture or accessories. An entirely red, blue and white room may be overwhelming.

{1} Wall painting
{2} Navy lamp
{3} Dresser knobs
{4} Throw pillow
{5} Red bookshelf
{6} Dr. Seuss crib quilt
{7} Red, blue and yellow mobile
{8} Light switch plate

chocolate brown, yellow & gray

I had a color scheme suggestion from one of my baby board contributors: chocolate brown with yellow and hints of grey. This was definitely a tough one and ironically enough several of the items I found are elephant themed.

{3} Grey and yellow lamp
{4} Brown and yellow crib quilt
{5} Grey and yellow throw pillow

orange creamsicle

Jon and I have elected not to find out the gender of our baby. As a result, we needed to come up with a very gender neutral nursery. Our wedding colors were pink and orange. Keeping with tradition, we opted to go with an orange creamsicle-colored nursery with splashes of bold colors.

{1} Orange and white polka dot crib sheet
{2} Baby mobile
{3} Retro orange hardware (can be used to replace dresser knobs, etc.)
{4} Orange throw pillow
